The purposes and functions of the Notre Dame Catholic School Advisory Council, as stated in their Constitution and By-Laws are as follows:
Section 1The SAC is established by the pastor, in accordance with Archdiocesan policy and the spirit of Canon law, to assist the pastor and principal in the educational mission of the parish school. The SAC shall use discernment and consensus in assisting and advising the pastor and the principal. In the Archdiocese of Denver, all councils are advisory in nature.
Section 2The areas in which the SAC may advise are: planning, policy development and formulation for the operation of the school, financing (including budgeting and policies for financial management), marketing, development and public relations, assisting with the selection of the principal, and evaluation of SAC goals.
Section 3School Advisory Councils in the Archdiocese of Denver are not to engage in matters regarding discipline, parent grievances, program development, approval of materials, and the hiring, evaluation, or termination of teachers and principals.
Section 4No practice shall be developed contrary to Archdiocesan policy or the code of Canon Law.
