Helping early childhood programs improve quality is the primary goal of Qualistar Early Learning. Participating in the Qualistar Rating is a significant commitment to the children and families in our community.
Developed by 150 early childhood experts, the Qualistar Rating measures quality in licensed early learning programs, both home and center--based that serve children birth to kindergarten. Child Care Providers volunteer to have trained quality rating specialists spend several hours in their programs collecting information and evaluating their program. In other cases, Child Care Providers are required to have annual quality evaluations.
There are 5 components in the Qualistar Rating which are scored and the total points earned are assigned a rating of 1 to 4 stars. The components are:
- Learning Environment
- Family Partnerships
- Training and Education
- Adult-to-Child Ratios and Group Size
- Accreditation
Families residing or who own property in the City and County of Denver with children in pre-kindergarten (4-years old) are eligible to receive tuition credits. DPP bases tuition credits on family income, household size and the quality rating of the school of choice. All families, regardless of income, are eligible for a tuition credit.
