For the 2011 Lenten project, Notre Dame’s students collected shoes for Soles4Souls, an international organization distributing shoes to third world countried.


Student Council - Officers and representatives are elected by their peers. Student Council members lead the school service projects and are actively involved in issues that are pertinent to the culture of the school.

Catholic Cultural Arts Fair - The Catholic Cultural Art Show is held every year for students in grade school through high school. It is open to all Catholic schools in the Denver Archdiocese. Competition is on the junior high and high school level only. Because Notre Dame School feels it is important to promote the excellent spiritual art of its students and to showcase the Catholic culture that flourishes at our school, our students participate in the art show every year. We believe all students who are asked to exhibit work are winners.
Junior Great Books - Students in grades 5-8 reading two years above grade level who meet for an informal discussion of classical books every two weeks in the evening throughout the school year. Groups are guided by a leader using the Socratic Method of discussion.

- Junior High Students help with Senior Luncheon every other month
- 3rd grade School Food Drive for Thanksgiving/Christmas baskets
- Advent and Lenten Projects
- Service projects throughout the year as the need arises
Destination ImagiNation - Destination ImagiNation helps children develop skills of creativity, problem solving collaboration, presentation skills, confidence, time management, research skills and creative and critical thinking. The program is grounded in creative problem solving. Up to seven participants work together as a team for 8 to 12 weeks to create solutions to a Team Challenge. Adult volunteers oversee and guide participants through their development as a team. At the culmination of the 8 to 12 weeks, teams then present and are judged on their presentation.
Rocky Mountain Talent Search - Students in grades 4 through 8 with high-interest and high-ability are offered, through the University of Denver, the opportunity to study with bright and motivated peers in enriched and accelerated courses on the DU campus during the summer. Scores on the PLUS Test, SAT or ACT are used as a criteria.
Leprechaun Post Newspaper -Monthly publication written by junior high students.

Athletic Programs - Athletic Program for grades 4th through 8th:
- Girls - softball, basketball and volleyball
- Boys - volleyball, basketball and baseball
Music Performances -
Students in grades 2, 4, and 6 present an Advent Program in December. Students in grades 1, 3 and 5 perform in the annual Spring Concert
The Annual Student Talent Show is open to all students.
Students in 3rd through 8th grades are invited to join the Notre Dame After School Choir. The choir leads the singing at the All School Liturgies and at various other performances throughout the year.
Students in 1st through 8th grades receive one quarter of Drama Class a year. Junior High classes write, and then perform their plays at the end of the quarter.
CU Science Classroom labs – Science discovery from the University of Colorado to stimulate scientific interest and understanding. These classes are tied to curriculum standards.
Nature and Science Museum Programs – Allows groups of students to focus on specific scientific topics through inquiry-based activities. These classes are tied to curriculum standards.
Academic Decathlon - Notre Dame’s students in 6th, 7th and 8th grades participate in the Archdiocese’s Academic Decathlon. Teams are tested in the areas of English, Current Events, Fine Arts, Literature, Math, Religion, Science and Social Studies. It is a 6 month commitment for students preparing for the competition.


Science Fair - The Science Fair is the culmination of a semester’s work by Notre Dame junior high students in the field of science. The highlights of the fair are the displays and reports of these students. Projects and reports are judged by a panel, with the winning projects competing in regional and state competitions. Other grades in kindergarten through 5th grade are invited to participate in the fair.
National Geographic Geography Bee
AmeriTowne - Young Americans Center for Financial Education. An award-winning educational program for 5th and 6th grade students to teach them about business, economics and free enterprise.
Junior Achievement - Through its programs, helps students in kindergarten through 8th grade learn the value of contributing to their community. Volunteers show students how to generate wealth and manage it, how to create jobs, and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace.
