The 2009 Notre Dame Student Council
Catholic Cultural Arts Fair - The Catholic Cultural Art Show is held every year for students in grade school through high school. It is open to all Catholic schools in the Denver Archdiocese. Competition is on the junior high and high school level only. Because Notre Dame School feels it is important to promote the excellent spiritual art of its students and to showcase the Catholic culture that flourishes at our school, our students participate in the art show every year. We believe all students who are asked to exhibit work are winners. Junior Great Books - Students in grades 5-8 reading two years above grade level who meet for an informal discussion of classical books every two weeks in the evening throughout the school year. Groups are guided by a leader using the Socratic Method of discussion.

Under that leadership, junior high students are selected to act as peer mediators in times of conflict or in times of minor concerns. They are trained by a professional psychologist and remain in communication with the school counselor regarding their contacts. This program is a reflection of the school’s goal for servant-leadership. Peer Tutoring - Junior high students serve as “Peer Tutors” during the course of the year assisting teachers at all grade levels with activities such as reading and math assistance with students, grading math fact worksheets, and with other duties assigned to them by the teacher. Student ASSET Group - The Student Asset Group is a group of 8th grade students selected by the 8th grade teachers. This group of school student-leaders is responsible for the planning and presenting of the school’s weekly prayer services. They are also responsible for helping to implement quarterly assets through the school and expected to be outstanding, faith-filled role models for our entire community.
